Lucy is about the same. Wouldn’t eat. Slept all night and almost entirely all of today. Finally ate a few bites of Wendy’s chicken. Had to crush her pills and mix them with water to get them in her. Her eyes are a little brighter and alert today. Definitely not out of the woods though. 🐶❤️‍🩹

Our Lucy beagle is absolutely wiped out. Another infection and pancreatitis flare up. Also trying to regulate her glucose/insulin without the precise monitoring of a hospital. She still hasn’t eaten but is drinking water and seems to be keeping it down. I’ve not seen her this weak before. 💔💔💔

Lucy wouldn’t eat yesterday, has thrown up at least twice, wet the floor six times overnight, and hasn’t eaten today. She has a tremor. The vet’s first recommendation was get her to the hospital which, financially, isn’t an option for us right now. So we’re here at the vet. Waiting. Hold on to hope.

I’m not a huge U2 fan, but the songs I like, I really like, and Sunday Bloody Sunday chief among them. I guess they re-recorded a chunk of their back catalogue including Sunday… Am also very much not a fan of artists reworking lyrics because it dilutes the integrity of the piece But this works Yup

I haven’t deeply immersed myself in this album, not the way I did with Have One On Me. Listening to it now and really like this song: Speaking of songs, I might go to a choir practice tonight. But also, I am nervous and very tired today. So we’ll see. Would be nice to make music again.

I’m not a big Elton John fan, and this could’ve easily have just been a car commercial. But it isn’t. If you need, like I do, to remember what finding joy in everyday things looks like, you’ll want to click through and watch the recently released official video for Tiny Dancer. youtu.be/yYcyacLRP… An EGOT for Elton

📓 Presented a 12-month training plan I created (with ChatGPT at first until I fact-checked it) to a division today. One employee stopped by after to thank me and said it looked great, that she’s excited for it. That made my day.

A lip gloss looked like it would be the same dark shade of red as my frames, but it’s brighter than expected. I’ll still wear it sometimes. Maybe more often than sometimes if anti-trans legislation keeps being passed. A “Read My Ruby Red Lips” social media campaign in the making, perhaps? 💋🏳️‍⚧️✊

Re: The Satanic Temple, I highly recommend reading their stated mission and seven tenets, none of which recommend drug-fueled ritualistic Eyes Wide Shut type orgies with steam ironed robes and creepy masques everywhere. In fact, they don’t even mention Stanley Kubrick at all. Weird, I know.

🤘 The Satanic Temple works to prevent an even tighter Christo-fascist grip on our country than the one that already exists. I appreciate that. Also they’re quite cheeky and clever, so I just became a card-carrying member.

For some reason, Ulysses, which I haven’t opened in ages but just did, isn’t pulling down all of my old micro.blog posts. Am hoping publishing this will kickstart the sync because I think I’d like to utilize Ulysses much more this year. I am subscribed to it, after all.

👩‍👦 I just had a very nice, conversational text exchange with mom. We joked about texting vs shorthand writing, Nicholas Cage, and washing jeans. I haven’t had a texting laugh with her like that in a while.

I posted about this piece by Leonard Bernstein a few weeks ago. You should spare 8 minutes for its ultimate message, sung quietly and calmly, richly and intently by naked a capella human voices that shine brilliant and bright with hope: Behold how good, And how pleasant it is, For brethren to dwell Together in unity.

Progress. Politics. Present. These are going to be my words for 2024. Progress - because perfection is subjective and ultimately unattainable. Politics - because guns shouldn’t have more rights than women. Present - because it’s time I really started showing up.

BEGIN IT WELL AND SERENELY

“Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely, and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense. This new day is too dear, with its hopes and invitations, to waste a moment on the yesterdays.

⛪ Also, maybe the reason I don’t watch A Charlie Brown Christmas religiously has to do with the religious parts. AND I think the tree was better off without all those ghastly ornaments on it.

Now that app literally serves up myriad articles and stories tailored tailored to your interests and enticing you to tap them. So you do, and Apple turns into that hacker nerd guy from Jurassic Park.
