Michael had rotator cuff surgery today. It went very well-perfectly, according to the surgeon. This is his second time (other shoulder last time). He’s resting, but I have a feeling I’ll be stepping up my Howie Homemaker game in the next few days. Happy to do it. He’s worth it 🥰

Mom texted to ask how Bonsai is doing. Here’s what I told her. Well, we have ok days and not so good days. More frequent accidents in the house. She’s really stiff with the arthritis in her hips and back. Her cough seems to come and go. All in all about as expected. Sometimes we’re REALLY stubborn about eating. She’ll go like a day and a half without eating, despite coaxing, trying hot dogs, chicken, etc.

CDC loosens coronavirus guidance, signaling strategic shift - The Washington Post: The new recommendations signal that the Biden administration and its medical advisers have decided that the lower fatality rate from covid-19 in a heavily vaccinated population permits a less demanding set of guidelines. A lower fatality rate isn’t as big of a deal, huh? Tell that to a family member of the dearly departed. Or to the husband of an organ transplant recipient whose immune system is severely compromised.

There is nothing like this in her catalog, or in anyone else’s, either. It’s relentless and tremendous. A galaxy lives in this work. Also me:
