I spent time last week using a web app to create an interactive graduation program for our fiscal academy. I started to share it then thought it might be an invasion of privacy since all the names are shown. The app is worth a look: genial.ly (via Wonder Tools newsletter).

I’ve got the final hearing playing in the background. It is absolutely chilling. Horrifying. I’ve got a stomach ache from it and am on the verge of full on panic. Anyone who still supports Trump in any way, I just can’t with you.

A selfie with my Nan Whaley Nan Fan sticker and #OhioDeservesBetter t-shirt. I wish she’d obliterate Mike DeWine (who refused to debate her out of cowardice), but Ohio is dumb. She may not have a snowball’s chance, but she has my vote.

So Gallup has these fillable templates you can use to recognize or thank a coworker or whatever. I decided to give one to someone I really value. I don’t let this dorkiness out that often so I hope she appreciates it. Oh who am I kidding. I dork out all the time. Case in point:

Did you know the USPS offers a service called Informed Delivery that shows you what mail is coming to your inbox? It’s dumb, and more and more the emails have just as much digital junk as anyone’s junk folder. It’d actually be a useful service if it: 1) stopped including digital advertising and SPAM in the emails and instead used that screen real estate for, I donno, vaccination campaigns, maybe?! 2) let you block unwanted junk mail from arriving in the first place and 3) was smart enough to link you to a valid bill payment site for utility bills received.

Florida’s GOP Leaders Opposed Climate Aid. Now They’re Depending on It. - The New York Times: Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott voted against last year’s bipartisan infrastructure law, which devotes some $50 billion to help states better prepare for events like Ian, because they said it was wasteful. And in August, they joined every fellow Republican in the Senate to oppose a new climate law that invests $369 billion in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the largest such effort in the country’s history.

ARE WE DOOMED AS A NATION?

Trump will be on the ballot in 5 weeks - Robert Reich (open.substack.com) Trump supporting election deniers are running, having been nominated by the GOP, for secretaries of state, attorneys general, and key local elections. Our solution? Vote down ballot. “Vote blue no matter who.” “Vote blue ‘cuz we tell you to.” Telling people “vote blue no matter who” is not the solution. It doesn’t work and it hasn’t worked.

MOURNING ROUTINE

I feel like a child asking this, but why are we letting Putin do what he’s doing? (Or anyone else for that matter?) Like, at what point do we stop reporting on it and really step in and stop it? My feelings are conflicted though. Most of the time I’m like “The USA isn’t the world police and needs to take its dick out of everyone else’s desert and put it back in its pants and just quit meddling and white savior-ing other countries”.

Just scheduled my COVID booster (5th poke) for October 1. 🦠 Somehow, knock on wood, we’ve been very lucky and not caught it (unless we had it and didn’t know it, but I would think with compromised immune systems we’d have known it). Now to find my COVID cards…

Mar-a-Lago decision: Trump poisoned courts for generation - Los Angeles Times: We have Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to thank for Judge Cannon. He refused to allow more than 100 of President Obama’s nominations to go forward, not just the pick of Merrick Garland for the Supreme Court. This is why Trump was able to appoint so many federal judges in one term. History won’t be kind to McConnell but it won’t matter.
